The cost of participation for each AMIGOS volunteer is covered through direct family contributions, fundraising activities developed by the volunteers, and direct contributions from individuals, corporations and community foundations. The proceeds from these activities help pay for the round-trip summer airfare for each volunteer, project supplies, and an infrastructure of field staff to support service activities and provide medical backup in the case of emergency. Additionally, the Los Angeles chapter hopes to raise a small surplus to help fund the establishment of a scholarship program for volunteers based on merit and/or family need.

Please note that AMIGOS neither solicits nor accepts funding from the United States government. Our programs are funded entirely through generous donations and fundraising. Amigos is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a charitable/educational 501(c)(3).

If you are interested in making a donation, consider the following examples of how your generosity could support Amigos Los Angeles:

  • A gift of $750 would sponsor the Winter Health and Safety Retreat

  • A gift of $500 would sponsor the Spring Cultural Sensitivity and Communication Retreat

  • A gift of $200 would provide chapter training manuals to all 10 volunteers

  • A gift of $100 would support the chapter website for a year

  • A gift of $50 would purchase a year’s worth of recruiting brochures

  • A gift of $25 would provide one training session’s worth of supplies
